Only you can do something for yourself

Ahhh!  We love to think that someday things will change.

One day I will do what I always dreamed of. One day I will have everything I want. One day I will have a better job. One day I will get promoted (with a better salary, of course). One day I will win the lottery. One day I will have my own business. One day I will find the love of my life. One day I will have more time for my family. One day I will have a relationship with God. One day I will be free. One day I will get out of this hole. One day I will be happy.  One day everybody will change.  People surrounding me will do what I want. That day, my life will be different.

Sadly, for many, that day never arrives. Their hope is based on receiving good things through that old friend we call luck. They think that no actions (doing nothing) will bring them good results. Supposedly, friends and family are required to help them achieve what they want. If luck and others do not please them, then life is hateful, oppressive and unfair.

But the truth is that only you can do something for yourself. Only you can take the decision to change your life. I can assure you that you know what areas of your life you need to modify.  Those modifications are necessary to create a better human being.  You know what you have to do but you do not do it. Humans are really strange. You may believe you are weak, complacent, lazy, pessimistic, naive, etc.  Additionally, you’re tired, sick, disappointed and sad. Therefore, you prefer to continue believing in fairy tales.  Somebody will save me.  Something great, out of this world is going to make things better for me. Oh yeah!!!  You can wait and see what happens. Or you can choose to act. The idea you have about yourself does not change the fact that a solution for a lot of your problems is closer than you think.

I read somewhere that insanity can be defined as follows:

Insanity is doing every day the same things and expecting different results.

The ideal time to make a positive change in your life is now. Do not fall into the irrational game where making the same moves get you different results. Do something for you!! If you do not do it, nobody will do it for you. Take the decisions you need to take. Do the things you know you have to do. Deal with what you are avoiding. You know what to do. Do it to have control of your own life. Do it so everything you receive is the result of your decisions and actions.  Do it so you do not have to depend on others. Do it because you do not want to see your life extinguishing over time.

Thus, that day may arrive.  That day may be today.

New day, new beginning

Lurking beneath those photogenic facades is a dark past intertwined with war, genocide, and centuries of tumultuous history. It is precisely this duality that makes Nuremberg one of the most fascinating cities to visit in Germany, and one that you can keep visiting again and again. So, what is there to do in Nuremberg? It turns out, plenty of things. Below you’ll find a roundup of my favourite things to do in ...
